I really wanted to write a quick review on this arm - I bought the Universal Carbon Clamp Mount for Tablets and Ultrabooks - About one of the only few solutions I have seen for small portable monitors/large devices - this holds up very well- and the configurations you can put it in is quite cool. With three ball mounted joints, at all corners- you can come up with some wigged out positions. That is one of the strongest points - quality is also very good, and would say is very stylish - so looks like they care about quality. Now the concerns I had - (1) is the price - very steep for what you get - I guess if quality is something maybe they could get away with it, but boy I would pick up 2 of these if they were like $40-$60 cheaper - the $179 is killing it for me - and still is. But quality I assume makes up for it - I think Joy Factory is use to selling to business people, and hence the high price. (2) Online you see a video by this art guy showing a snapping mount in the back.. this is not a snap mount but a permanent like attachment ball hinge - I was surprised to see that, for the cost was expecting a detachable back - but this more ball mounted- and something you would not want to transport together with your device. They have 3M nice pads for the slide out on the face plate- but could have included a second set. (3) Online also saw videos where they included a nice travel case with the arm, this did not come with the nice case, just wrapped (very well wrapped) - again for the price should have included at least that. So, I invested in one - maybe in the future Joy Factory can come down like 30-$40 - just for value and kicks - and I would sure pick up another. Very cool to have this, and so far I am well pleased - You will be pleased if you pick it up - Thanks Joy FactoryAfter searching for a great quality headrest holder for my Ipad, this product delivers with great quality. I had purchased other cheap headrest holder in the past and they served its purpose but eventually broke because it was plastic, plus only had one viewing angle. The Joy Factory Unite Universal Tablet holder is made with durability and the viewing functionality is endless. The holder can be adjusted so that you are not blocking any important ports to access the tablet, such as headphones, power cable. I have an Otterbox case for my Ipad and I am able to keep my Ipad in the case while mounting the Ipad to the holder. There is no quick release of the Ipad/tablet, but after you unscrew 2-3 screws you able to remove the Ipad/tablet. To reinstall the tablet, just place the tablet to the holder and tighten the same 2-3 screws and it is back in place. The screws are easy to tighten with your hand, because the screws have handles. No tools required. In the beginning, you will need an Allen wrench (provided in packaging) to mount the holder to the headrest. Installing the tablet, no tools required, just screws using the handles. The quality, durability, and functionality is by far the best compared to its competitors. My son will have endless time watching movies while we are taking road trips.I liked the reviews on this and steered clear of the cheap plastic stuff knowing our toddler likes to kick. This is a great mount, no doubt about it. It is solidly engineered, no rattle or movement, clamps tight, but is definitely meant to be a more permanent fixture. We used this with a new Kindle Fire HD so the kids could watch movies. This has multiple wingnuts that clamp the tablet in, so if you ever have to get the tablet out from the front seat to change the movie or settings, you have to release at least three wing nuts and tighten them when you put it back. If you want to remove the mount when not in use, the ball wing nut clamps at the base of the mount must be completely removed to take the mount off, and the pieces usually fall down to the carpet when removing/attaching the mount to the base clamp. Finally the base clamp uses four hex bolts to attach to the headrest, so forget moving this in between cars.If it was more versatile with being able to pop the tablet in and out without adjusting several wing nuts and easier to attach/remove the mount from the base clamp it would get five stars. Being able to move it easily between cars would have given it 5+ stars.I'm going to try the TFY headrest mount holder as the Velcro strap and tablet holder will allow for ease of getting the tablet in and out.Immediately set this up upon arrival, and so far it seems great. The bracket that connects to the headrest bar isn't awfully large but is too takes up too much space on my headrest bar for my headrest to stay "locked" into the seat. It will stay put, but I think that if it got caught the right way on a jacket or something else it could pull the whole thing up and off. The connections are really secure when tightened down and didn't budge at all when I applied a little force. My device is an iPad Air 2 in an Otterbox Defender case and it fits in the brackets but seems like it could be easily knocked off. We took a trip after it was installed and the device stayed secure, and no the kids could see it from their seat. I am pleased with the product this far. This product is very well engineered. My main concern when I was researching different brands of cup holder tablet mount arms was how the mount would fit securely in different sizes of cup holders. This implementation has a genius base with expandable sections. Simply place the base in the cupholder and twist the ring knob until it is snug. There are 3 joints on the arm and each one pivots and twists in all directions. The stand can hold the tablet in awkward positions, yet, the locking mechanisms keep it from moving once secured. Each joint locks individually so minor adjustments can be made without compromising the entire position of the arm. This is now an indispensable tool for me. I use it with a Surface Pro 3 and a power cover and it holds the weight just fine. I am now curious about the MagConnect line which is much more streamlined for easy connect and disconnect of the tablet.I have found this to be perfect for holding my tablet securely. I know this is A LOT more expensive than the cheaper plastic versions that are sold on amazon, but having bought the plastic one prior to this, I can assure you that the plastic ones are unbelievably flimsy and are not fit for purpose. The plastic versions will eventually break and smash your tablet or IPad. I can not recommend this highly enough. The only thing you need to consider is that your tablet is not too thick. the reason is that two of the L-Shaped gripers that hold the tablet have "tongues" that turn in, so you do need to worry about the thickness of the tablet as well. If your tablet is too think then you may not be able to use this. I have a 10" Fujitsu Tablet and I barely managed to fit it in.Works very well for my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9".Currently have it mounted on a table and has spacing clearing the charge port. The clamp and side arms holding the tablet in place are made of metal. The back plate which the metal arms slot into and the screw knobs are plastic. The arm itself is made of carbon fibre but the other pieces off set the weight saving. The positioning is super flexible and once locked down it holds in place very well.It is quite expensive but I would recommend it.I went through all the reviews of all the competing - and much cheaper - products and came away very sceptical that they would be good enough, holding my tablet securely without risk of dropping or damage, and providing a stable platform from which to take photos.I then decided to take the plunge and shell out for this one. I'm not disappointed. Put simply it looks and feels well made, uses good quality materials, holds my tablet firmly and securely without risking damage to the case and locks solidly in position for mounting on a tripod. What more can I say?It works very well and exerything and a bit more too. I am a wheelcahir user and it attached to the chair very well and could hold a loptop nearly as well as a tablet.
