This light was very bright and well made. the mount was solid too. be sure to note that the mount fits 2.25- 3.0 inches which makes the mount quite large. didn't use the mounts that came with this due to only really wanting the light and amazon had a better deal for the combo than just the light. for the first order i ordered four sets and one of the sets contained a fog light instead of driving light even though it was in factory box marked driving pattern. not an issue due to amazons great customer service they overnight-ed a replacement. these appear to be very well made and shine a very white light.First, I received Black X-Clamps even though the listing clearly states they were silver. It didn't matter to me, and in fact, the Black was my first preference. The lights, connectors and clamps are all solidly designed and well made. No disappointment here with these.Caveat: Due to a number of issues related to this product's shipment as a Vine item, I could really do no more than test the components separately. I'll explain why below. For a normal purchase, I wouldn't review the product at all since I couldn't fully test it in day-to-day usage.So, initially I was only sent a single clamp. A couple of weeks later, I was shipped a second clamp and a light. I was told that I would not be receiving the second light, and then I realized that the clamps I received were two different sizes. So I'm left with two mismatched clamps and a single light. There is no reasonable configuration where these three items would work well together, which is why I'm only reviewing the components.That said, here's my take on what I received. I did install one of the clamps (the smaller one, although the review applies to both since they are of the same quality) on a bar with the intent to mount my Contour ROAM camera to it. It's heavy and well built, and I have no qualms mounting my camera to it because I know it's not going anywhere. I had initially hoped that the inside of the clamp would be rubberized to prevent any rubbing issues on the bar, but so far I haven't noticed any issues in that respect. An allen wrench is included for installation, along with varying lengths of bolts to accommodate different bar diameters.The light is more difficult to review, because I'm not willing to do the wiring and installation for a single light. However, I did hook it up to power to play with it. While not exactly turning night into day, it did seem that it would put forth an acceptable amount of light for relatively short distances if it's paired with a second one. The build of the light itself is really nice, with an obvious attention to detail and care in manufacturing, and if I had wired it up permanently and mounted it, I would have zero concerns about its weatherproof claim.(As a Vine reviewer, I got only one of these lights.)This is a heavy duty light and mount kit. Very solid construction on the bar mount and heavy duty housing around the light. There are 4 LEDs, they produce a VERY bright beam when hooked up to 12 volt power, such as a car battery or boat battery. That's the good parts.The cons are as follows:Zero instructions came in either the light's box or the mount's box. After some time, I was able to figure out which bolts went where, but there's also an extra bag of cam bolts that are a mystery. And much later, after some digging I found a PDF download for installation instructions, but on the X-clamp only, not the light itself. No wiring guide, no assembly guide. Zip.Putting the mounting stand on the x-clamp was no problem, but putting the light's u-shaped mount on the light itself was a total bear. You have to hold the lock nut with a pair of needle-nosed pliers while screwing in the bolts on either side. Very frustrating and not good product design in my opinion. I realize they're trying to keep the bolts from being visible or catching on brush, but there's got to be a better way, perhaps having the bolts permanently coming out of the light box itself and then an open shaft design so the lock nuts could just pop on and you're done? Either way, this took some time. Like I mentioned, no instructions on that part, so all of this has to be figured out in a rote way, making installation a hassle.The light itself has very little room to aim downward, it's straight ahead or up, but not down. Odd. I guess you could rotate the mount on the roll bar but that's less than an elegant solution.It's a nicely built product, but there needs to be some follow-through on the rest of the deal. Not everyone is a mechanic out there, guys. Three stars.I received only one set of these back in September, and after a two month wait, I received another set which included a clamp that does not match the first set.There's no doubt in my mind that the Rugged Ridge LED light kit is well-constructed and made for the outdoor life. Both elements (or in my case, all three elements) are solid. No instructions came with the clamp/LED combo, so I employed my brother-in-law to "rig up the lights" and test them. He reports that the lack of instructions along with the wiring and lack of clamp adjustments would merit two stars out of five.The lights are good and bright, but I think I was expecting a little more from them. They didn't light up the night by any stretch of the imagination, but then again I didn't expect them to do so... but as I said, I did think that they'd be brighter than they are. They do the job, they just don't "wow".These run approximately $125, and honestly, I would expect more from a purchase of these lights.
